About the Artist
Saba Akram is a Washington D.C. based artist whose work is driven by cultural influences and desire for representation. Born in Falls Church, VA, to Pakistani immigrants, she became excited about the patterns and colors seen in clothing, truck art, and Islamic art from a young age. Her work has since been inspired by the colorful patterns and motifs of South Asia.
Saba's artwork explores the strength and beauty of people while also exploring how she identifies with her culture. She is best known for her use of color and her figurative work.
Saba works in acrylic paints, gouache, marker, ink, and digital art.
